This is Mrs. Everett P. Osgood, President of the Palm Beach Ladies for Unity, writing to you from the ballroom of the Palm Beach Royale.
The PBLFU is anxiously awaiting the arrival of our stars for the largest War Fund Benefit we have thrown. None other than Claudia McFadden and Athena Sinclair will be arriving at any minute. Of course, not at the same time. Good heavens, no. They arrive separately; in different cars; and will be staying in different rooms; on different floors. Everything has been arranged to perfection. The staff at this hotel has seen to it that we have followed all the arrangements those two have requested. Nothing will be amiss because, at the same time, the Palm Beach Ladies Weekend Leave Program will be sponsoring the Navy. Just as we did with our boys from the army, the Palm Beach Royale will give our Navy boys the opportunity to unwind in our gracious surroundings, with the only water they need to think about being our pool.
Well, I must get busy and greet all the reporters and technicians. Did I mention that tonight’s benefit will be broadcast live on the radio -- coast to coast? With thousands upon thousands in attendance and on the wires, I know that nothing can go wrong. Ta ta all.
